Umpire’s Match Report

The final of the Plate Mixed Doubles was played in the spirit typical of matches at Corfe Mullen and was a pleasure to umpire.
Despite the final score clearly favouring Alison and Paul, a third of the games reached deuce. Ian showed great defensive endeavour by returning as much as he could and Val hit some powerful winning forehand shots, rarely making an error. However, Alison and Paul showed greater consistency, control and accuracy in their shots to score exactly twice as many points as Val and Ian. Final score 6-1, 6-0.
